Location Introduction – The town of Croydon is located in south London; it is one of the largest commercial areas within Greater London, with a great shopping district and a vibrant and busy night-time economy. The town lies on the route of the old Roman road from London to Portslade, and there is some evidence of small-scale Roman settlement in the area. Waddon borders the town centre to the southwest, and to the west is Beddington, inside the London Borough of Sutton. In the north are Broad Green, Thornton Heath and Selhurst. To the south lies Purley and Sanderstead, and east lies Addiscombe and Shirley. Croydon includes its districts of Addiscombe, Broad Green, Coombe, New Addington, Sanderstead, Shirley, and Waddon. Our advanced driver training has been carried out in the Croydon area for private customers and larger corporate fleet drivers, with excellent results.

We offer a range of courses, including:

* General advanced and defensive training (private and fleet)
* Motorway confidence
* Post-RTC training
* Younger driver
* Confidence training
* Refresher training

Our bespoke driving courses cover a range of elements bespoke to the driver’s needs. Below are the common things we look at:

* Looking at a driver’s specific day-to-day driving and driving history to make a bespoke training plan
* Looking ahead and developing powers of observation
* Modifying attitude towards a safer, more proactive way to drive
* Manoeuvres, reversing, and driving in confined spaces
* Learning the System of Car Control
* Identifying high-risk driving – such as at night, driving tired or when stressed
* Driving safety on the motorway and dual carriageways
* How to boost driving confidence
* Increasing focus on speed and excessive speed
* How to avoid road rage situations
* Becoming a safer urban driver – identifying and dealing with pedestrians and cyclists
* Learn how to drive in a more environmentally friendly way

You will be issued a driving report after each session via email. Your report has a unique verification number attached – proof you’ve had training with a qualified professional. In your report, you will see how you improved and in what areas, along with some valuable tips to ensure you keep up your improved standard of driving.

Key learning points of our driver training:

* Address any issues which could be impacting you as a driver
* Demonstrate your intention to become a safer, improved driver
* Become a safer, more skilful driver
* Finally, deal with and address issues which may have been holding you back

Training is a little different for commercial clients – the end client, the person receiving the training, is often not the person who decides to do the training.

While we help the driver to improve, from a commercial perspective, your business will benefit from the following:

* Demonstrating your business Duty of Care
* Providing the opportunity for an employee to develop
* Lower fuel costs
* Potentially lower your fleet insurance costs
* Showing you care

Training locations in Croydon:

Croydon is situated not too far from Central London, making it a popular location for commuters. Traffic is almost always dense, although road traffic is diverted away from the pedestrianised town centre. Many clients have taken driver training in and around Croydon for all sorts of reasons. Every driver is unique, and our courses are bespoke to the driver we are training. We help with confidence driver training, post-RTC training, pre-court assessments, motorway training, fleet driver training and more. For those looking at motorway training, we have quick access to the M25, where we will then head off towards M23 south, or if we are heading west, we will navigate to the M3 or even M40, depending on course duration. For confidence training in Croydon, we usually start off with driving in suburban areas such as Thornton Heath or towards Bromley in the east, Warlingham in the south, or towards Epson in the west. We can then head south towards the M25 via the A24 from Epson or A23 if coming from the South Croydon area.

Unless you’re doing a specific motorway driving course, we will often head east towards Tunbridge Wells or west towards Guildford, where there is a range of challenging rural roads where we can build on your driving skill, confidence and ability. If you’re anxious about a certain route, such as the route to your place of work, we can do this with you and look at dealing with specific areas which may be causing you to worry, such as a busy junction or roundabout.

Course Duration

We offer full or half-day training options. We also provide multiple half-day options.

The 3.5hr course is the shortest course we offer. This is ideal if you need a course to cover the key elements of driver training (such as general advanced driving, confidence, motorway, refresher, pre-court, etc.). This is very popular for business clients who are training a lot of drivers back-to-back, as we can offer AM/PM slots from your office. This can be a great “toe-in-the-water” session for private clients if you wish to take more sessions later or feel 3.5 hours will be enough.

The 7-hour (full-day) course is a popular option – This course is ideal if you need more than a 1 x 3.5-hour session and want to get it done in one day. There are 2 x 30-minute rest breaks included in this course. The course is 7 hours from start to finish but closer to 6 hours of actual driving. We have found this is far more beneficial than trying to do 7hr in one go. It’s a long day, but a lot is covered.

Business clients tend to opt for the 7-hour session when they have a driver or drivers with specific issues such as speeding, high collision rate, inexperienced driver, etc. If you’re doing a pre-court advanced driving session, this is more suited than a 1 x 3.5hr session if a driving ban looks probable.

Training large numbers can often require more planning. Still, we have many years of experience with managing large, often complex driver training sessions involving multiple start locations and hectic diaries.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Croydon

Croydon is located in South London and is a busy town with high accident rates. It is served mainly by the A23 and the A232, and both of these routes are busy with commuter traffic into central London and linking the M25.

The A232 crosses Croydon from the A24 at Ewell to the M25 at Orpington. This is a hectic road with numerous collision sites across the entire length, but as it reaches Croydon through a very residential area, the road becomes a 30mph speed limit. The accidents found here are less severe due to the lower speeds involved, but some very serious accidents have also been noted, especially near the traffic light junction of Church Road and Demesne Road. Another hot spot is the junction near Hilliers Lane, where the road widens and links with the B272 Plough Lane. This road is also shared with public transport routes, and minor collisions have been seen near the many bus stops. It is always wise to take extra care if you are following a bus and be extra careful when overtaking, as passengers will often alight and try to cross a road.

The A236 travels through Old Town to link the A232 at the Lombard Roundabout, where this has seen very high collision rates, some very severe. It connects Canterbury Road, Mitcham Road and Purley Way, so you must be fully aware of your lane exit when many drivers use the intersection simultaneously. It is also wise to watch other divers who may be hesitant and struggle with the correct exit, as this can be chaotic. Mitcham Road is a bustling route, and some areas are high-risk crash sites, such as between Priory Road and Dennett Road. All road crossings have the possibility of an accident waiting to happen, so when driving in built-up residential streets, it is wise to be extra cautious.

If you have any specific roads you travel on in Croydon and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service.
