Location Overview – Islington is a trendy district north of Greater London and is a mostly residential district of Inner London, and it extends from Islington’s High Street to Highbury Fields, and encompasses the area around the busy High Street, Upper Street, Essex Road, and Southgate Road to the east. The southern part of the borough, south of the A501 Pentonville Road and City Road, forms part of Central London, Central London congestion charging zone and the Ultra-Low Emission Zone. Islington is bordered by Cricklewood and Stratford and is north of the Thames. Islington was once an inner-city suburb struggling with social decline, but over the past few years, it has been transformed into one of London’s most desirable neighbourhoods. With its prime location, unrivalled restaurant scene and gorgeous Victorian townhouses, it is easy to see why it is now attracting more people to the area. We have delivered lots of advanced driver training in and around Islington for private drivers with confidence issues or motorway training. The A1 splits Islington north to south and links the A503 and the A103. These roads are perfect for taking advanced driver training, especially for confidence on faster roads. There are some great roads in and around Islington for further advanced driver training, including Barnsbury, Canonbury, Dalston, Finsbury, Kings Cross, and Highbury. You can use your own or company vehicle for the training, and our handpicked, highly qualified tutors will come to you, whether that is your office or home address.
Our courses will vary in structure, but courses are based and priced on time duration:
3.5hr – half-day session
7hr session – full-day session, which can be split between two drivers if necessary
2 x 3.5hr – two half-day sessions
3 x 3.5hr sessions – three half-day sessions.
Longer Duration Courses:
Our fully tailored 3, 4, and 5 x 3.5hr half-day sessions are suited for those with specific issues with driving, such as driving anxiety, significant driving issues on particular roads, or who may not have driven for a very long time. These longer courses are booked mainly by private individuals, although they are also open to our business clients.
These longer-duration courses are great for those facing particular (often very specific) issues, as it can take time to build up your skill and confidence levels. The time between the sessions will also be valuable as it allows you to reflect, absorb and practise what has been covered in the earlier sessions.

For many drivers, this is the first step in reaching out on their journey to confident driving.
Road Safety Risks and Information – Islington
Islington is set north of London along the A501, and the A1 starts from here, travelling through to the M1, linking to the motorway system and the rest of the UK northwards. Islington is an extremely busy area with a high volume of traffic, causing numerous accidents on a daily basis, so it is vital that drivers pay extra attention when using busy inner-city routes.
The A510, Pentonville Road, skirts the South of Islington and is fraught with collision sites along the whole length from Rodney Street to Haverstock Street, and most accidents occur near road junctions, traffic lights and roundabouts. Some of the worst affected areas are the traffic lights at Penton Street, Claremont Square, and Baron Street, where there are numerous severe accidents with several fatalities noted. Further along is the junction that creates the start of the M1, the intersection of St. Johns Street and Islington High Street. This is a multi-traffic light junction with many accident sites noted, and care should be taken when driving across this area. It splits into a dual carriageway for a slight stretch between the large A1 junction and creates a triangle of streets, including Fredericks Row and Sydney Grove. All of these routes have accidents noted, in line with the high volume of traffic in the area, but many could have been avoided with better observations and paying more attention to the actions and intentions of other drivers. Remaining on the A501, City Road, the traffic lights at Graham Street and Central Street have extremely high accident rates, similar to Warfe Road, Thoresby St and Windsor Terrace, and many of these have been severe and life-changing, with a few, sadly, being fatal.
The A1 cuts through the centre of Islington, starting at the junction of the A501 Islington High Street and merging into Upper Street; this route is another very busy highway with numerous accidents sited along the entire route through Islington. Some of the worst affected parts are the junction of Liverpool Road and White Lion Street and the Berners Road Junction, where accidents have been severe. The A104, Islington Green, shoots off to the east from the A1 towards Dalson, and this is another route with high accident statistics; again, these occur near road junctions and traffic lights.
If you have any specific roads, you travel in the Islington area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions. Please get in touch with us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone interested.
