We have a number of tutors who can provide advanced driving courses in Gloucestershire. The bespoke nature of our courses means no two courses are the same. We can build a course that is designed with the driver in mind regardless of what they drive or their level of experience.

In Gloucestershire alone, we have provided training for companies and private individuals in and around Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud and Newent. We cover all of Gloucestershire and come to you for the training.

Remember – All our driving courses are bespoke to your own needs. For both business and private clients.

Gloucester has a wide range of roads, which is good from a driver training point of view. For motorway training, we can use the M5, or onto the M50 into Wales.

For urban training, we can use the major towns/cities, and for rural road training, we can head off into the Cotswolds area towards places like Nailsworth, near Stroud in the south of the county or Stow on the Wold towards the north/northeast of the county.

During our advanced driver training, we cover many elements, including:

  2. Speed awareness and planning
  3. Creating a safe mindset for safer motoring
  4. Changing your driving style on different of road types
  5. Motoring law and regulations
  6. Coping with stress when driving a car or van
  7. Manoeuvres

  10. Under oversteer and the four-wheel drift – learning to identify them and removing the cause
  11. Learn how to visit the petrol station less! Driving in an economical way

Road Safety Risks and Information – Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire has several hazardous fast routes, and the M5 is the main motorway that travels from the Midlands to Exeter. The other motorway in Gloucestershire is the M50, which links Ross on Wye to the outskirts of Tewkesbury. Both of these motorways have relatively high accident rates, and too many result in fatalities. Junction 2 of the M50 at the intersection to the A417 is a particularly hazardous junction, and on the M5 at Almondsbury is another risky junction. Extra caution should be used when travelling over known accident hotspots. The A417 is one of the worse affected areas in the UK for accidents, especially from Gloucester into Cirencester, and huge traffic jams can occur often. The section of the A417 around the roundabout linking the A436 to Cheltenham and into Cirencester and Swindon has seen many fatalities, and often, these happen in rush hour traffic when everyone is trying to get to their destinations quickly. The A417, merging into the A419, is the main route to the M4 into Wiltshire and London, but from Gloucester is filtered into single lanes at times which can cause a blockage.

The A38 is another busy route that travels to the side of the M5 right through to Devon and is another road that is fraught with hazards in certain places, such as the stretch of road between Newport and Woodford towards North Bristol, where Chapel Hill joins the A38 from side roads. Gloucester and Cheltenham are the larger towns in Gloucestershire, with a lot of accident sites throughout the urban network of inner-city routes. Gloucester has three fast A road routes filtering from the town centre, the A38, Bristol Road, the A417 Barnwood Road and the A40 from Ross on Wye into Cheltenham. These routes are busy and fast and have seen numerous accidents, especially happening during rush hours.

The country lanes between the Stroud Valleys and over Minchinhampton Common and into Tetbury are perilous, especially during the winter months. In the Forest of Dean, the roads surrounding the minor roads leading from the A48 are very winding and fraught with rural accidents, particularly Speech House Road between Coleford and Cinderford.

These are only minimal examples of collision sites in Gloucestershire. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover which parts are at higher risk regarding collisions. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone interested.
