Location Overview – We have done a lot of driver training in and around Coventry for both fleet and private clients. Coventry is a historical city in the Midlands, east of Birmingham. Historically, Coventry was in the county of Warwickshire and is one of the 10 largest cities in the UK. It is 17 miles east-south-east of Birmingham, 22 miles southwest of Leicester, and 9 miles north of Warwick. Coventry is centrally located in England and is 12 miles southwest of Leicestershire. Coventry has seen regeneration in recent years and an increase in population. Coventry has been the centre of transport production since the late 19th Century when it was the foremost bicycle manufacturer in the UK. By the 1950’s it became a significant player in the British Motor Industry, with Jaguar and Range Rover still being a vital part of the city. Coventry also produced the first black cabs in the UK and has an interesting motor museum showing the town and its pride in motor history.

Due to Coventry’s central location, we can offer a wide range of on-road driving courses. All our on-road session courses are bespoke to your needs and requirements, whether you need a full day or half day or multiples of either.

Coventry is surrounded by stunning historical villages and has an excellent transport network, attaching it to the nearby counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire. Coventry comprises many smaller areas, such as Wyken, Tile Hill, Binley and Kersley Heath, and all are on routes that are easily accessible from all parts of the city.

We have carried out many driver training courses for clients and companies in the Coventry area, with its great A road network of dual carriageways in all areas of the city area such as the A44 that joins from the A46 from Stratford, the A45 running to the West to the southeast of the city joining Ryton on Dunsmore right through to Birmingham. The M6 and the M69 serve Coventry and are great routes to practice motorway confidence.

Our courses are door-to-door and always tailored to the individual driver.

Our courses and pricing are based on duration:

Half-day 3.5hour session
Full day 7hour session (which can be split for two drivers on the same day)
2 half-day sessions
3 half-day sessions

Longer Duration Courses:

Our fully tailored 3,4, and 5 half-day sessions are more suited for those who may have very specific issues, such as driving anxiety, problems with specific roads, or who have not driven for a very long time or after an RTA. These longer courses are booked mainly by private individuals, although they are also open to our business clients.  The longer-duration courses are great to build up your skills and confidence over a short time. The time between each session will also be valuable as it allows you to reflect, absorb and practise what has been covered.

How to book or enquire

Road Safety Risks and Information – Coventry

The city of Coventry is set to the east of Birmingham in the west midlands. The M6 serves it to the north and has several fast A road routes that cross the city, all with high volumes of collision sites to be aware of.

The M6 is a very busy motorway, and junction 3 links the A444 and the B4113 at the Exhall interchange. Numerous collision sites lead to and from the intersection, with many seen on the roundabout. This shows that poor lane exiting could be the issue. It is very easy to get caught up in an accident on large urban roundabouts, and it is always wise that drivers should not only be aware of their own directions but also watch out for other drivers who may be struggling with theirs. Junction 2, the Ansty interchange is very similar in accident statistics. This links the B4065 Hinckley Road and the A46(M69) Coventry Eastern Bypass. Accidents are always more rife on fast motorways, and A road routes and Coventry is no exception, with hot collision spots along these roads.

The A4053 creates a ring road circling Coventry city centre and links the A4114, Holyhead Road, the A429 Warwick Road, and the A4600 Sky Blue Way. At nearly every intersection along these routes, crash sites can be found, especially during rush hours. Inner city routes are bustling, and a lack of patience and poor indications are the most common reasons why these occur. Being able to anticipate the intentions of other drivers is also a skill that can be learned relatively quickly, and it will always help you to stay safer on the road. The retail centre of Coventry is mainly pedestrianised, but the narrower streets leading to the centre have a high level of accidents recorded. The High Street linking from the B5444, Gosford Street, is one example where numerous collisions have occurred in the past few years. Greyfriars Lane and Corporation Street both have similar tales to tell.

The A428 Binley Road is a very poor area regarding collisions as it is one of the main routes into the town centre from the east of the city. It is also shared with public transport routes and is a populated residential area. When using routes such as these, it is beneficial to have a clear observation of the side of the road as many private driveways open directly on the main road and with bus stops along the route, there is always the possibility of a passenger trying to cross the road unseen.

If you have any specific roads you travel on in Coventry or the surrounding area, and you’re keen to discover what parts are at higher risk regarding collisions, please get in touch with us.
