Location Introduction – Leicestershire is a bustling and vibrant county in the East Midlands. It borders Nottinghamshire to the north, Lincolnshire to the northeast, Rutland to the east, Northamptonshire to the southeast, Warwickshire to the southwest, Staffordshire to the west, and Derbyshire to the northwest. The border to Warwickshire is Watling Street, the modern A5 road. Its largest population centre is the city of Leicester, followed by the town of Loughborough. Other large towns include Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Coalville, Hinckley, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Oadby, Shepshed and Wigston. Leicestershire was recorded in the Domesday Book, and its external boundaries have changed little since. A large part of the county’s northwest, around Coalville, forms part of the new National Forest area extending into Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Reports After Training:

Each client taking driver training with us will receive a detailed driving report a few days after training. This gives a very insightful look into what was covered on the day, how the driver improved, to what extent and in what areas. This is very important as it lets you know the skill and competency level of a driver and what they also need to work on. We take report authentication seriously, which is why each report we produce is fully documented and has its unique verification number so that you can check back for an original copy with us. This is useful if an employer has asked an employee to take driver training.

The personal benefits of our advanced and defensive driver training:

* Consider issues that may be specific to your driving
* Reduce wear and tear on your vehicle
* Identify and remove any higher-risk driving characteristics
* Lower fuel costs
* Upskill your levels of skill and overall confidence

Leicestershire is served by the M1 and the M69, perfect for motorway training, with many busy A roads, such as the A6 towards Kettering, the A607 to Grantham, and the A46, which takes you right to Cleethorpes on the Northeast coast. There are some lovely rural roads between Narborough and Great Bowden for some of our driver training sessions, as well as a fantastic faster route network to help with all types of driving confidence. We train business drivers and private individuals in Leicestershire wanting to increase road confidence. You do not have to attend a centre as our highly qualified tutors will come to your address, home or office and take you out in your own vehicles, cars, or vans.

Half or Full Day?

Our half-day option works best if you want to train several drivers back-to-back. It’s cheaper per head, and your business has less downtime. For a private client, a half-day is ideal if you simply need a short refresher.

A full day is more suited if you or a driver has specific issues, such as limited confidence, complaints about their driving (company drivers) or if you are a private client and want more than a half-day training session but want to get the training done and dusted in one day.

We find many clients opt for the full-day session – and book one driver in the morning and one in the afternoon – there is no additional charge for this, and it works really well for business clients.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Leicestershire

Leicestershire is set in the East Midlands between Birmingham and Northamptonshire and is a very busy and thriving county served by several motorway junctions and fast A road routes. The high rate of accidents in the Leicestershire area is spread across the entire county, including rural and urban roads, and shows the volume of traffic that crosses the East Midlands.

The M1 and the M69 are the motorways serving Leicestershire, and they are busy with both haulage and commuter traffic daily. The worst affected areas along the M69 are the stretch between junctions 2 and 3 and at the intersection’s roundabout, where it meets the A5. The M1 starts from London and travels through Leicestershire to the west from junctions 19 to 24 at Castle Donnington. The most severe accidents are seen around junctions 19 and 20 at Lutterworth and the stretch of motorway between junctions 22 and 23, where many accidents have, sadly, included fatalities and involved multiple vehicles. There is also a very challenging junction where the M1 meets the A50 and the A45 near the East Midland Airport.

The fast A road routes crossing Leicestershire are littered with accident hot spots, and the A46 from Leicester to Lincoln is very hazardous, particularly around the crossroad of the Six Hills intersection where Paudy Lane and Melton Road cross the fast A46 and merge onto Six Hills Lane. Another accident-prone area is the A607 toward Melton Mowbray, where several rural lanes cross the faster A road, such as Gaddesby Lane and Melton Road. Many parts of the A6 are dual carriageways and have large roundabout intersections. Many severe collisions have been found in this area, such as the meeting of the A563 Watermead Way and around Loughborough. Leicester is the largest town in Leicestershire and has a bustling network of urban roads. The collision rates are very high, much the same as in most inner-city areas, so extra care must be taken in slow-moving traffic, as this is where inpatient drivers can cause chaos. The one-way system of Vaughn Way and Burleys Way is fraught with accident spots, and the narrow roads closer to the centre are also one-way, making driving quite complicated at times, and many accidents here may have been due to drivers unfamiliar with the area.

There are many rural roads in Leicestershire, and some of the highest accident rates are found along the A4304 from Misterton to Market Harborough and the lanes around Coalville, especially Abbots Oak and Whitwick.

This is only a very brief outline of collision sites in the county. If you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
