Location Overview – Tyneside is an expansive built-up area that stretches across the River Tyne in the north of England. The boroughs of Gateshead, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and North and South Tyneside cover the wide-reaching area. The boroughs along the river Tyne are mixed with Wearside, found in both the counties of Tyne and Wear and Durham. While Newcastle upon Tyne has been a significant centre since Roman times and a major regional market town since the Middle Ages, the economic development of Newcastle and Tyneside is owed initially to coal mining. The Derwent, a major tributary of the Tyne that starts in County Durham, saw the vast development of steel industries from around 1600 onwards. At its peak, the famous Tyneside shipyards were one of the world’s largest shipbuilding producers. With Tyneside being one of the most populated regions in the UK, it is little wonder that we have delivered excellent advanced driver training courses across the area for both corporate and private clients.

We offer a range of bespoke courses, which include:

Reports After Training:
Every client who completes driver training with us receives a personalised driving report within a few days of their session. This report provides a clear, detailed summary of the training, highlighting what was covered, how the driver performed, and where improvements were made. It also outlines specific areas that may require further development.
These reports are especially valuable for our business clients, as they offer a reliable assessment of a driver’s skill level and competency. To ensure authenticity and traceability, each report is customised to the individual driver and includes a unique verification number. This allows you to easily confirm the validity of the report and request an original copy from us if needed, particularly useful when driver training is undertaken at an employer’s request.

Key learning points of our driver training:
* Dealing with and addressing issues which may have been holding you back
* Become a much improved, more skilful motorist
* Demonstrating your intention to become a safer, improved driver
* Work on any issues which could be impacting your level of skill and safety
Training is a little different for commercial clients – the end client, the person who has the on-road training, is often not the person who decides to do the training.
While we help the driver to improve, from a commercial perspective, your business will benefit from the following:
* Demonstrating your businesses Duty of Care
* Providing the opportunity for an employee to develop their driving role
* Detailed reporting with risk assessments.
* Less wear and tear on vehicles
* No excuses for damage caused by careless drivers after training
* Potentially lower your fleet insurance costs
* Lower fuel costs
Tyneside is a large area encompassing many areas, including Newcastle upon Tyne, Hebburn, Jarrow and Gateshead – all of which we have provided training in. The superb road network that is mainly faster A roads, such as the A167, A1058, A692 and the A19, is ideal for driver training. We have some fantastic tutors who cover Tyneside, and all courses are door-to-door. Tutors come to you.
We offer full days (7-hr) or half-days (3.5-hr) durations with our driver training courses.
A full-day course is ideal for those seeking intensive driver training, especially drivers with specific areas to focus on or for training two fleet drivers at the same location. This format is popular with business fleet managers who aim to train multiple drivers efficiently within a short time frame. We also offer full-day sessions tailored to individual needs, such as campervan handling or performance car training, which are often shared between two private drivers from the same household.
A half-day session is perfect for those looking for an introduction to advanced driving or simply wanting to refresh their skills. For drivers who prefer to build confidence gradually, additional half-day sessions can be scheduled over time. We’ve helped many nervous drivers regain their independence through our supportive and expert training.
Our tutors not only bring professional driving expertise but also understand the emotional and psychological challenges that can come with a lack of confidence behind the wheel. We appreciate that taking the first step into training can feel daunting, and we’re here to make that journey as comfortable and encouraging as possible.

While we have attempted to cover as many things as possible on this page, we understand you may still have questions, so please get in touch, and we can advise you better on the best way to move forward with your driving needs. A member of our team will only be too pleased to help you.
If you are looking at training several drivers, we will quickly provide you with a quote, along with how we can best approach the training based on your business needs. Training large numbers requires extra planning, but we have many years of experience managing extensive, often complex, driver training sessions involving nationwide locations and hectic diaries.
Road Safety Risks and Information – Tyneside
Tyneside is served by two motorways, the A1 motorway and the A194 motorway, which joins at Springwell. It is also crossed by several fast A road routes, such as the A184, the A19 and the A69, north of the county. All of these fast roads have high accident statistics.
The A1 motorway is fraught with accident sites along the whole route across Tyneside, and the Junctions of 70 and 71 are particularly hazardous, with several severe and life-changing collisions noted. Over the Blaydon Bridge into Denton, the crash sites are just as severe, with the junction areas being the most perilous, especially the large roundabout of the meeting of the A69 at junction 75. The A194 Motorway is a slight stretch of motorway linking the A1 to South Tyneside and, for such a small area, has numerous crash sites, with many on the Havannah Interchange roundabout of the B1288 and the A182 Washington Highway. The case is very similar to the Follingsby Interchange meeting the A195. As the A194 continues into south Tyneside, it merges into an A road with a few dual carriageway patches, where crash hot spots are noted, especially Leam Lane and Hedworth.
The A167 over the Tyne Bridge is another area of concern, starting from the High Street south of the river and north towards the Swan House Roundabout and the Newcastle Central Motorway; knowing where the accidents occur can help to keep you safe on the road. The A695 north of the River Tyne is fraught with crash sites from the dual carriageway, Scotswood Road, with several collisions occurring near the traffic light junction of Voilet Close and the cycle 72 route along St James Boulevard.
Towards the coast, the A193 at Whitley Bay, there are numerous accident sites that would have ruined many a holiday; this include the roads such as the A191 and the A1148 leading into the town. The A1058 travelling to Beach Road at Tynemouth is another area with far too many accident sites for such a small area, which has probably occurred due to drivers being unfamiliar with the area. When using coastal roads, it is always wise to remember that many drivers may be tourists and unfamiliar with the route, so having a little extra patience can be all that is needed for a safe trip.
These are only a very brief outline of collision sites in Tyneside. If you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
