Location Overview – Warrington is a town in Cheshire on the banks of the river Mersey. It is 20 miles east of Liverpool and 16 miles west of Manchester. In medieval times Warrington’s importance was for being the market town and bridging point of the river Mersey. With the Manchester Ship Canal cutting through the south of the borough. Warrington embraced the Industrial Revolution and became a manufacturing town and a centre of steel, textiles, brewing, and chemical industries. Warrington is divided into 18 smaller parishes, including Stockton Heath, Winwick, Appleton, Birchwood, Burtonwood and Westbrook, to name a few. The M56 and M62, and M6 motorways form a box around the town and are accessible through the town.
All our driving courses are bespoke to your needs and requirements, whether a full or half day or multiple half days or if we are training one driver or many. Here are the things we cover:
* Observing the road ahead
* Having an improved appreciation for speed
* Reversing and manoeuvres – ideal for vans but also useful for cars
* Looking at specific vehicle controls – including new technology and how it is designed to help you.
* Understanding the rules of the road
* Developing a positive mindset for continual improvement when driving
* Being aware of the extra safety precautions when driving in urban traffic

Once the training has ended, a PDF report will be sent usually 3-5 days after the course, with specific things assessed such as confidence, forward observations, attitude, speed awareness and much more. We rank a driver from Poor to Excellent in these areas at the start and after training. This report is beneficial as it’s bespoke to the driver and gives valuable tips for safer driving in the future. Each report is verified and documented with us – proof a driver has had training with a DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) registered professional driver trainer.

Warrington is within a lovely green belt that extends into the surrounding counties. The main urban area and larger villages are exempt from the green belt area. Still, surrounding smaller towns and rural regions like Rixton, Glazebrook, Higher Walton, Kenyon, Stretton, Hatton, and Broomedge are within the district. Warrington lies close to the M62, M6 and M56 motorways and halfway between Liverpool and Manchester airports. It has five primary A roads, the A49, A50, A56, A57 and the A580, that form part of the borough’s northern boundary. Over the past few years, we have carried out Advanced Driver training in all areas of Warrington and Lancashire. Our highly trained and experienced tutors will come to you, and you can use your own vehicle for the course.
Course Duration
We offer full or half-day training options. We also provide multiple half-day options.
The 3.5-hour course is the shortest duration we offer. Ideal if you need a course covering the basic elements of driver training (general advanced driving, confidence, motorway, refresher, or pre-court). This is very popular for business clients training many drivers, as we can offer AM/PM slots from the address. For our private clients, this can be a great “toe-in-the-water” session for private clients, and you can take more sessions later if needed.
The 7hr (full day) course is a popular option – Ideal if you need more than a half day but struggle to find time and want to do your course in one day. There are 2 x 30-minute rest breaks. The course is 7 hours from start to finish, with 6 hours of actual driving. It is a long day, but a lot is taught and covered.
Compared to the 1 x 3.5-hour session, there is more time to identify and remove bad habits and a longer time to introduce and practice various advanced/defensive driving skills. The driving report will be more detailed than the shorter session.
Business clients tend to opt for the 7-hour session when they have a driver with specific issues such as speeding, high collision rate, or an inexperienced driver. If you need a pre-court advanced driving session, this is more suited than a half-day session especially if a driving ban looks probable.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Warrington
Warrington is served by three motorways, the M6, M56, and M62.
Junction 9 of the M62 links the A49, and this is a hazardous junction with many collision sites noted on the Stump Cross intersection and the slip roads. In the past year alone, numerous reported accidents have occurred at this junction. These can be attributed to poor lane exiting and being in the wrong position of your exit; this can confuse other drivers and lead to needless crashes. The A49, Winwick Road travels south north into Warrington, and this is a route with many hotspots for collisions, especially at the junction of the 4-way traffic lights of the meeting of the M50 at Long Lane and the roundabout at Cromwell Avenue.
Winwick Road merges into Lythgoes Lane and into the town centre via the Cockhedge Green roundabout and the meeting on the A57, which travels along the northern edge of the town. Numerous accidents have been noted along this route, often involving pedestrians and cyclists. To navigate this area safely, it’s important to maintain a safe distance from cyclists and always be prepared for pedestrians to cross the road. This route is also full of bus routes and can be frustrating if you sit behind a bus and are unable to overtake. Staying calm and composed during busy rush hours is key to arriving safely; using all the tools available to you, such as mirrors and indications, is vital to be able to show other drivers your intentions and be able to read theirs.
The roundabout between Mersey Street and Church Street has high collision rates. In rush hours, it can be very tempting to nip onto a roundabout without proper observations, which can cause your journey to be even longer with a collision from the side or rear for the sake of a few seconds of extra wait. From this roundabout you can travel into Warrington centre via Dial Street and although speeds are much slower in the town centre some of the accidents have been very severe often involving pedestrians. To avoid such accidents, it’s crucial to always be aware of your entire surroundings and drive at a safe and steady speed. Sankey Street and Scotland Road are much the same with hazardous accidents, and with the Bus Station opening out onto Winwick Street, there is the possibility of being stuck behind a large bus, giving you poor forward observations; this is when accidents can sadly occur if attempting to overtake in a rush. To prevent such collisions, it’s best to wait for a safe opportunity to overtake. Midland Road, skirting the north of the town centre, is another route fraught with accident sites; this is a bustling, faster road with many side junctions, including the Leigh Street traffic light junction and Froghall Lane.
