Location Overview – Lutterworth is a historic market town in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, located in the southern part of the county, not far from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire borders. It lies about 6-7 miles north of Rugby and about 12 miles south of Leicester. The town has roots going back to Anglo-Saxon times, and its market town status dates from a charter granted in 1214.  Today, Lutterworth combines quaint charm, old coaching inns, half-timbered buildings, and a traditional high street with modern pressures such as increasingly busy roads and traffic.

What Our Courses Cover:

Our advanced and defensive driver training is tailored to cover a broad range of key areas, depending on the specific course selected and the individual skills and experience of each driver. Some of the core topics we typically address include:

* Enhancing anticipation and forward-planning skills
* Developing greater speed awareness and control
* Improving driver mindset and attitude behind the wheel
* Mastering safer driving techniques across motorways, rural roads, and urban environments
* Deepening knowledge of road rules and driving regulations
* Understanding the causes of road rage and how to manage emotional responses
* Practising essential manoeuvres with confidence and precision
* Building skills for driving safely in adverse weather conditions
* Recognising different types of skids and how to respond effectively
* Adopting more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly driving habits
Learning to better anticipate the behaviour of other road users

These points offer a general overview; some may be more relevant to certain drivers, while others might not. This emphasises the customised nature of our training.

Duration Overview – What’s Ideal For You?

Our courses are typically divided into 3.5-hour sessions. While some drivers opt for a full 7-hour session, this can be challenging for those who are not accustomed to long periods of driving.

A popular choice is the 2 x 3.5-hour session package, especially among private clients. This format provides a break between sessions, allowing time to absorb and practice what was covered before the next session.

Longer courses – For those with more specific needs, we also offer 3, 4, or 5 x 3.5-hour sessions, which are ideal for individuals facing confidence issues or those who have been away from driving for an extended period. These courses are also ideal for those suffering PTSD-related symptoms after a collision.

If you’re unsure which course suits you best, you can begin with one or two 3.5-hour sessions and, if necessary, schedule additional sessions at a pro-rata rate.

Major Roads & Routes

  • A426 (Leicester → Rugby road)
This is one of the main roads through Lutterworth, linking Leicester in the north and Rugby in the south. It carries local and through traffic, including a lot of freight to/from Magna Park.
  • M1 Motorway (Junction 20)
Lutterworth lies adjacent to J20 of the M1, which is a major motorway running north-south. This offers fast access to the motorway network, facilitating connections to places like London, Birmingham, and the rest of the Midlands.
  • A5 Trunk Road
A5 runs somewhat close by and is part of the network that traffic from Lutterworth uses, especially for bypassing local roads and connecting to other regions.
  • A4303 (Southern Bypass)
This road was built to route traffic between the M1 and A5 without going through the centre of Lutterworth. It helps reduce congestion through the town centre.
  • A4304
This road runs from the M1 near Lutterworth out to areas like Walcote and North Kilworth, serving local traffic and helping distribute traffic around Lutterworth and beyond.
