We offer advanced and defensive driving courses all over the UK, including Derbyshire. We provide driver training for private individuals and company car and van drivers. Our training in Derbyshire covers all areas, including:
Derby, Buxton, Glossop, Matlock, Chesterfield, Belper, Ashbourne, Swadlincote. As we have tutors all over the UK, we can come to you for the training anywhere in the UK. So even if you are located in a less populated area, this is no problem to us.
Derbyshire is a good location for us to provide driver training due to the vast network of rural roads, which are great to help with training on more challenging roads, where improved car control is practised. For motorway training in Derbyshire, we have easy access to the M1. For training on busier A roads, we have the A6, A52, and A38, plus many more to help a driver increase their skill base.
Depending on where you are, we often will head out of Derbyshire, across to Lincolnshire, or down towards Northamptonshire.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Derbyshire
Derbyshire is set in the East Midlands and is a very busy county with many rural roads across the Peak District to the south and served by the M1 motorway to the east. Derby is the central city, and other larger towns are Bakewell, Chesterfield and Matlock. There is a high accident rate, with numerous fatal collisions across the county. As a result, it is beneficial to know where these collisions are to help you safely navigate roads in the county.
The M1 has many junctions serving Derbyshire, and it is mainly around these intersections that the majority of accidents happen, and they can be severe. There are many fast A road routes and dual-carriageways crisscrossing Derbyshire between the M6 to the west connecting to the M1 at the east; they all have accident sites, but some of the worse affected are the A50 and the A518 around Uttoxeter where there have been lethal collisions involving multiple vehicles. Another risky area is the stretch of the A52 and the intersection of the A515 near Ashbourne, with similar accident statistics.
In the city of Derby, some very hazardous areas exist, such as the A38 Kingsway and Queensway bypasses and the Uttoxeter and London Roads. In and around the small town of Alfreton, there are a lot of severe accidents that have happened along the A61 and the B6019, Mansfield Road. There are also numerous accidents around Buxton in the Peak District, possibly involving tourists unfamiliar with the A53, A515 and A6 routes leading into the town.
As the Peak district covers much of Derbyshire, there are more than the average rural roads across the county than in other counties nearby. Rural roads will always have more issues than town or motorway driving. Narrow twisty lanes, poor lighting, no speed calming, and seasonal weather changes all increase the risk. The B5470 and the A5004 near Whaley Bridge have a high accident rate for such a small, picturesque location; Chapel Road at Hayfield is another risky hotspot. The country roads in the triangle between Belper, Selston, and Eastwood have very challenging roads, the Alfteton Road having one of the worse statistics in the county.
This is only a very brief outline of collision sites in the county. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
