The junction at Waterways has four terrific A roads ideal for further tuition to help with any driving issues. Being located in Chelsmford means you’re not too far from the M25 – mainly accessible via the busy A12.

Our tutors will come to you for the training using your car or van.

Half or Full Day?

The half-day is ideal for companies with many drivers to undergo training and want to take advantage of cost and time savings associated with such. The full day is perfect for private drivers who want to take an intensive driving course and want to iron out any bad driving habits quickly.

We find that many clients opt for the full-day session – and book one driver, one from 8.30am and one in the afternoon from 1pm – there is no additional charge for this, and it works very well.

When we train drivers, we look at creating the course around their individual needs. We initially ask them to drive for a short period of time without instruction. After a short debrief, we introduce several advanced driving techniques, such as forward planning, advanced observation, and car control, to name just a few techniques.

The main part of the course is designed to improve the driver – and we find the best approach here is to work on their specific driving style and requirements and adjust the training to fit their needs.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Chelmsford

The city of Chelmsford is located northeast of London and is a highly populated and busy city and is served by the A414 and the A12. The A414 comes into Chelmsford from the M11 near Harlow, and it is a very hazardous route with numerous serious and sometimes fatal collisions along the entire route. This is a fast road over rural landscapes with many smaller lanes opening onto it. Most of the accident sites are around these hidden junctions, such as King Street and Radley Green Road on Chelmsford Road. Driving on fast rural routes has many issues, from less street lighting, challenging corners, poor surfaces, less signage and high hedges that can obscure lane openings.

The A414 near Chelmsford links up to the Widford Roundabout and the London Road Roundabout, a set of junctions that joins the A1016 and the A414 to the A12 south, and there are many collision sites noted around this intersection. As London Road merges into Princes Road, numerous crash sites are found near the small retail park opposite Fortinbras Way. Even though the speed limit is low in this area, the collisions have been quite severe, showing that the speed along this wide road is a definite issue, especially as there is a school nearby. It is important to be observant in built-up areas, especially near schools and retail areas. From the Army and Navy Roundabout, you can travel into the city centre along the Parkway A1060 or along the A138 to the Chelmer Village retail park. The A414 then continues along the Essex Yeomanry Way, where it meets the Howe Green interchange and the A12 up the north side of Chelmsford toward Colchester.

Parkway joins Baddow Road and High Bridge Road to encircle Chelmsford City Centre, and collision rates along these routes are incredibly high, especially during rush hour traffic. These routes are also shared with buses and have many stops that add to congestion and frustration, so it is important to be aware of passengers who may be crossing the road in front. Heavy urban traffic is the same no matter what area you are driving, so a great set of observations and being able to anticipate the actions of other drivers is an excellent skill to have – and may help to prevent needless accidents.

If you have any specific roads you travel on in Chelmsford and you’re keen to discover what parts are at higher risk in terms of collisions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
