Location Overview – Eastbourne is a town and seaside resort located on the south coast of East Sussex. It is 19 miles east of Brighton and 54 miles to the south of London. Eastbourne is east of Beachy Head, which is the highest chalk sea cliff in the UK and is part of the larger Eastbourne Downland Estate. The seafront consists mainly of Victorian hotels, a theatre, a contemporary art gallery, a Napoleonic fort and military museum, and the famous Eastbourne Pier. We have been training drivers since 2011 in the Eastbourne area and the surrounding towns and villages, including Holywell, Old Town, Willingdon and Jevington, Pevensey, Stone Cross, and Westham.

We offer a range of bespoke courses, which include:

* General advanced and defensive courses
* Motorway training
* Performance training
* UK Familiarisation
* Confidence training
* Younger drivers
* Pre-court assessments

All courses are created around the needs and requirements of the individual driver, but below are many things we look at:

* The system of car control – IPSGA
* Working towards an expert level of forward planning and observation
* Understanding the important observational elements of driving (seeing) and building these into your driving plan
* Manoeuvres and reversing (This is often requested in confidence training)
* How to become a safe driver on urban and rural roads and motorways
* Understand your limitations and at-risk factors that you may not be aware of
* Undoing years of ingrained bad habits
* Learning to manage speed and become more speed-aware
* How to deal with complex and busy traffic environments
* How to understand other drivers and what they may do next
* Learning how you and other drivers think when behind the wheel

You will be issued a driving report after each session – sent by email. This report is fully documented with us and has a unique verification number attached – proof you’ve had training with a qualified professional. In your report, you will be able to see how you improved and in what areas, along with some valuable tips to ensure you keep up your improved standard of driving.

The benefits of our Advanced and Defensive driver training include:

* Upskilling your levels of skill and overall confidence
* Identify and remove any higher-risk driving characteristics
* Consider issues that may be specific to your driving
* Increase vehicle control on every road type
* Reduce wear and tear on your vehicle
* Lower fuel costs

Looking for fleet advanced driver training? Driver training for business clients provides several benefits that include:

* Help employees who have specific issues

Eastbourne is connected by road to London by the A22 and to Brighton and Hove and Hastings by the nearby A27 – we do a number of driving courses on these roads for courses starting in Eastbourne. It is the largest town in the UK with no direct dual-carriageway link to the motorway network. Eastbourne is crossed by A roads such as the A2270, A259 and A2280. When you take an advanced driving course with us, our skilled tutors will arrive at your address and take you out in your own car or van. We also do training for campervans and motorhomes. We help both private and business clients.

Half or Full Day?

Our half-day option works best if you want to train several drivers back-to-back. It’s cheaper per head, and your business has less downtime. As a private client, a half-day is ideal if you simply need a short refresher.

A full day is more suited if you or a driver has specific issues, such as limited confidence, complaints about their driving (company drivers) or if you’re a private client and want more than a half-day training session but want to get the training done and dusted in one day. We find many clients opt for the full-day session – and book one driver in the morning and one in the afternoon – there is no additional charge for this, and it works really well for business clients.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Eastbourne

Eastbourne is a bustling holiday location, and many accidents are found on the roads nearby. Many of these collisions involve drivers not used to the area, and many holidays have been ruined due to a nasty collision.

The A27 skirts the north of Eastbourne, and it’s the main route that crosses the southeast coast, linking towns from Southampton to Bexhill. The Golden Jubilee Roundabout joins the A27 to the A22, which runs directly into Eastbourne via the A2290, Lotbridge Drive, or the A2280 Cross Levels way. There are numerous accident sites on the Lotbridge Drive Roundabout, and these may be due to poor lane exiting and last-minute panics. It is vital to understand your positioning for exiting any roundabout, as many severe and life-changing collisions happen daily in such areas. The Seaside Roundabout linking the A259 is another very hazardous roundabout with many collisions noted. The Lotbridge Drive, joining the Park Bee retail park, is also another area where some severe and, sadly, fatal accidents have occurred. As the A259, Seaside Road, ventures further into the centre of Eastbourne, collisions become much higher, with nearly every traffic light junction and road crossing being littered with accidents. Churchdale Road and Channel View Road meetings were particularly hazardous, with numerous accidents noted.

The Grand Parade, B2106, is another area where far too many accidents have happened. This route follows the coast and is rife with accident hot spots, the worst being found along the Royal Parade and the meeting of the Cambridge Road junction. Much of Eastbourne town centre is pedestrianised, but the narrow roads surrounding the centre are also shared with bus routes, making driving relatively slow and frustrating especially during the day.

If you have any specific roads you travel on in the Eastbourne area and you’re keen to discover what parts are at higher risk in terms of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service where we provide detailed accident reports and safety advice for any road in the Eastbourne area.
