Location Overview – Maidenhead is a traditional market town in Berkshire, located on the southwestern bank of the River Thames. The town is conveniently placed 27 miles west of Charing Cross and 13 miles east-northeast of the county town of Reading. The Maidenhead urban area includes Maidenhead Court, Boyn Hill, North Town, Furze Platt, Pinkneys Green, North Town Fishery and Bray Wick. The adjoining built-up areas in surrounding civil parishes are Cox Green and Altwood, Woodlands Park in White Waltham parish, and part of Bray Wick in Bray village, which is linked to Maidenhead by the exclusive Fishery Estate lying on the west bank of the Thames. To the east is the large village of Taplow in Buckinghamshire which almost adjoins the suburban village of Burnham, which connects the urban area of the large, industrial town of Slough. To the north are Cookham, Cookham Village, Cookham Rise and Cookham Dean. To the west is the area of Pinkneys Green. * Reports After Training:
Each client taking driver training with us will receive a detailed driving report a few days after training. This gives a very insightful look into what was covered on the day, how the driver improved, and to what extent and in what areas. The report is very important as it lets you know the skill and competency level of a driver and what they also need to work on. We take report authentication seriously, which is why each report we produce is fully documented and has its own unique verification number so that you can check back for an original copy with us. This is useful if an employer has asked an employee to take driver training.
The A4 runs through Maidenhead and crosses the Thames over Maidenhead Bridge. The town lies adjacent to junction 8/9 on the M4 motorway and is accessed via the A404 and A308. For motorway and confidence training, we spend a lot of time on the M4 and M40, depending on your exact start location.
The A308, A404 and A404 form the Marlow and Maidenhead bypass, another key training road for us, and this acts as an important link between the M4 to the south of the town, with the M40 at High Wycombe. Business fleet companies and private individuals can take fully bespoke courses. We have conducted courses in and around Maidenhead, including Holyport, Burnham, Taplow, Bisham and Knowle Hill. Our highly qualified tutors will come to you and take you or your drivers out on the road in your own vehicles. We train both car and van drivers alike.
Whether you are a corporate client training many drivers or a private individual – we have several bespoke courses to increase the skill and safety of a driver. Our courses are available for both van and car drivers.
* 3.5hr –The benefits of this course are that it is the shortest in the range and the lowest-priced option. The disadvantage is that for some drivers, it’s too short. Ideal mainly for companies training two or more drivers.
* 2 x 3.5hr – This is beneficial for customers that can’t drive for a full day and need the split to help them absorb more over a more extended period. Often a driver gets homework in this session, so they can practice what has been covered in session one to help them with session two. Older drivers often opt for this course.
* 7hr full day – Although it can be hard work for some, a full day is cheaper than 2 x 3.5hr. It’s suitable for those who are time-poor. Maybe your company has asked you to do this course, or perhaps you feel a 7hr will work better for you. Talk with us if you are unsure. With business clients, we can split a full day so one driver is trained AM and then one is trained PM.
* We offer longer courses for those with specific issues and offer 3, 4 and 5 x 3.5hr options. These are often taken over several weeks and are great if you have more deep-rooted issues or have not driven for a long while.
Talk with us:
While we cover as many things as possible on this page, we understand you may still have questions. If you wish to discuss anything, please call, or email us. A member of our team will only be too pleased to help you. We can help both private individuals and business clients.
If you’re looking at a quote for a large number of drivers, we will be able to provide such, along with how we can best approach the training based on your business needs. Training large numbers require a little extra planning. Still, we have many years of experience managing extensive, often complex, driver training sessions involving multiple start locations and hectic diaries.
Road Safety Risks and Information – Maidenhead
Maidenhead is set on the M4 between Slough and Reading and is a bustling market town with the A404 running along the western side of the town. There are many hotspots for collisions within the Maidenhead area, with a high amount along the Bath Road A4, which runs directly through the centre of Maidenhead from Reading to Slough and into London.
The Holyport Interchange on the M4 links the A308, and the A404. There are numerous accident sites noted on this large roundabout and the slip roads leading to it. To navigate this area safely, we recommend maintaining a steady speed, using your indicators clearly and in advance, and being aware of other drivers’ movements. The A404 meets the A4 Bath Road at The Thickett Roundabout, and several crash sites are noted here and in the smaller roundabout at the Meeting of Cannon Lane. The A4 then travels into Maidenhead centre, where one of the most hazardous spots is the junction of St Marks Road. Accidents along busy routes such as these will often involve cyclists and pedestrians, especially those alighting a bus and trying to cross the road in front. It is vital that when driving in any built-up urban areas, especially during rush hours that drivers are aware of their surroundings and have more patience in order to anticipate the actions of other drivers who are all in a rush to get to their destinations on time.
The A4 merges into Castle Street and the Bad Godesberg Way, skirting the north of the town and carrying a large volume of traffic with numerous collisions statistics noted, especially at the roundabouts of Market Street linking Cookham Road and Saint-Cloud Way and Bridge Street. Urban driving can be frustrating at the best of times, but during rush hours, it can be very hazardous. Although speeds may be lower than on motorways, the accidents can still be very severe, and they can add to congestion with possible road closures. Bridge Road continues to merge with Bath Road, A4 and onto Slough, but care should be taken near junctions and traffic lights as the collision rates are still very high. Another area of concern in Maidenhead is the A308, Frascati Way, leading to Braywick Road, where several severe and fatal collisions have occurred in the past few years. The small joining side roads of Queen Street and Bell Street are particularly hazardous.
This is a small outline of crash sites in the Maidenhead area. Please contact us if you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions. We offer a free-of-charge service where our experts will analyse your travel routes and provide a detailed report on the risk levels of each section. This can help you plan your journeys more safely and avoid high-risk areas. We encourage all drivers to take advantage of this free service.
