Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire is a popular location for business and private clients who are looking to take an advanced/defensive driving course. We have the M1, which is great for motorway driver training. We also have an extensive range of rural roads in and around Buckinghamshire, such as the A5, which can take us up towards the Northampton area, or south towards Hemel Hempstead.

The A5 has some junctions,  which can take us cross-country on roads, where car control and forward planning can be introduced and practised during a session.

As Milton Keynes is mainly an urban environment, we do provide an element of defensive urban driver training, which can take place in areas like Loughton, Monkston and other similar areas.

Remember – Each driving course is totally bespoke to your own specific needs and requirements. This applies to both our business and private client courses.

Apart from Milton Keynes, we have full UK coverage, so if you are looking at Milton Keynes as one of a number of training locations, we are certainly able to help you, whether that be multiple areas in Buckinghamshire or multiple areas across the UK-  that’s no problem.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes is 50 miles from London and has several fast A road routes serving the city and is west of the M1.

Junction 13 of the M1 links the A421 and carries a huge volume of traffic daily, and this is a very challenging junction that also links the A507 Salford Road and Bedford Roads. The collisions centred around this area are very high, with several fatalities and many severe and life-changing collisions noted. Many accidents are seen on the slip roads on the M1, suggesting that too much speed for exiting or too little speed for entering could be to blame. This junction has three roundabouts, and the crash sites are very high on all of them. Understanding how to use motorways and large intersections is essential, especially if you use them regularly. Statistically, motorway driving is the safest way to travel, but with a high volume of traffic and higher speeds, they can be intimidating for many.

Junction 14 links the A509, which runs into the City Centre, and there are many collisions noted here, mainly on the large roundabouts again, but along the A509, more collisions are noted at nearly every junction and traffic light system.

The roundabout at Saxon Gate links into the city retail centre, and this is a busy route shared by pedestrians, cyclists and bus routes. Accidents that occur here can be very hazardous, with more than vehicles involved. Much of Milton Keynes retail centre is pedestrianised, but streets such as Secklow Gate, Silbury Boulevard and Midsummer Boulevard are rife with crash sites. Many are quite minor and can be due to a lack of indications and observations, but there are several severe crash sites, especially at the traffic light system of Saxon Gate. There is a high volume of delivery vehicles along the routes serving the retail centre.

If you have any specific roads you travel on in the Milton Keynes area and are keen to discover what parts are at higher risk of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who is interested.
