Our HQ is based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. However, we have full UK coverage around the UK. We have a team of DVSA-registered advanced driving tutors who can cover all areas of Shropshire. We have already helped many companies and private individuals in Shrewsbury, Telford, Wem, Church Stretton, Wellington and Whitchurch. Due to Shropshire’s rural location, we can take a driver on some great roads in the county for training.

Heading on the A458 into Mid Wales is a good route, which combines faster A roads with twisty rural roads, while the M54 is good for motorway training, which depending on location and time, we can head onto the M6, or if you are based towards the north of the county, we can head into Cheshire and onto the M56/M53.

Remember – All our on-road driving courses are tailored to your exact requirements. For both business and private clients.

Although Shropshire is a large county we more often than not head either into Mid Wales, over to Staffordshire, north into Cheshire or south into Herefordshire as part of a training route. This ensures we cover as many roads as possible. During a training session, we do like to try and cover motorways, rural roads, and urban routes, as being exposed to a diverse network of roads means we get to see how a driver deals with different situations and road types – and this allows us to adapt our training accordingly.

All training is bespoke to the driver; we never offer just an off-the-peg driving course!

During our advanced/defensive training, we try and cover a wide range of things, including:

  1. Creating increased powers of anticipation and planning
  2. Being aware of speed limits and controlling your speed
  3. Improving a driver’s overall attitude to driving on UK roads
  4. Safer driving on motorways, rural roads and in the town
  5. Educating drivers about the rules of the road
  6. Better understanding of the reasons for road rage
  7. Manoeuvres
  8. Driving in dangerous weather
  9. Risks linked to urban driving and being aware of at-risk road users
  10. Learning the difference between different skids
  11. Learning to drive in a more economical way
  12. How to anticipate the actions of other motorists

The personal benefits of our advanced and defensive driver training:

  1. Increase your levels of skill and overall confidence
  2. Remove any risky driving characteristics
  3. Consider issues that may be specific to your driving
  4. Increase car control on all types of roads
  5. Reduce wear and tear on your car
  6. Improve your MPG – get more miles from your car

If you are looking at an advanced driving course as part of a fleet driver training plan, the advantages of training cover:

  1. Increase driver safety in your fleet
  2. Demonstrate Duty of Care
  3. Possibly reduce your fleet insurance costs
  4. Boost morale among your drivers

Additional Info: Road Safety Risks and Information – Shropshire:

Shropshire is a largely rural county with many thousands of miles of roads, which are a mix of motorways, rural roads and urban routes. The majority of fatal collisions in Shropshire tend to occur in rural locations. If you regularly drive in Shropshire, having an overview of serious collision sites and why they occur can help make you a safer, more aware driver. There are often very specific characteristics roads have which make them particularly deadly.

Over the last few years, risk areas to be aware of include the stretch of road on the A458 from Halfway House to Preston Montford. Another high-risk area is the A458 again, but to the south of the county, around Cressage and Much Wenlock. A large number of collisions here often involve vehicles overtaking or merging from junctions onto busy roads. Poor observation and planning with excessive speed all too often contribute to these collisions. Towards Telford, the A442 near Coalport has seen a higher-than-average number of fatal collisions in the county.  Most lethal collisions do occur in rural areas due to the increased speed and challenging nature of such roads. However, they do also occur in urban areas – where there is an increased occurrence of cyclists and pedestrians being involved. In Shrewsbury, areas of danger include Frankwell, Cherry Orchard Battlefield and Radbrook, where pedestrians, cyclists and road traffic all meet.

In Telford, Leegomery is a particularly high-risk area where the very busy Haybridge Road and Whitchurch Drive meet. It’s not just in and around the large towns in Shropshire where serious collisions occur; the A49 in Church Stretton is also considered a higher risk, with a number of collisions occurring along this fast road. Many of these occur at junctions, including Farm Lane, which joins the A49 to the north of Church Stretton and also at the traffic light-controlled crossroads in the centre of Church Stretton itself.

Free Collision Blackspot Check by Road:

These are only a very broad outline of collision sites in the county. If you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and you’re keen to discover what parts are collision blackspots, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone who wishes to know. More Info
