Location Overview – Crawley is one of the most significant and lively towns in West Sussex, and it sits midway between Brighton and the outskirts of London; it is only 18 miles north of Brighton and Hove and 32 miles northeast of Chichester. Crawley has plenty of greenery and is perfectly placed to explore the south. Yet, it offers dozens of attractions in its own right and has a range of superb sporting and leisure facilities, such as one of the best public golf courses in England – Tilgate Park, where you’ll find walled gardens, a maze and even a forest. The Crawley Millennium Greenway is a 24 km orbital route meandering through woodlands and open space around the town.

Crawley is an excellent place for taking a range of driver training. In the last few years, we have trained clients in and around Crawley, including Broadfield, Bewbush, Gossops Green and Southgate. The junction of the M23 and the A23 and A264 is an ideal place to take extra tuition with driving on motorways and dual carriageways.
Your Drivers Domain UK tutor will always come to you, taking you out in your own car or van for the course.
We have several courses based on duration:
3.5-hour session
7-hour session (which can be split between two drivers)
2 x 3.5-hour sessions
Longer-Duration Courses:
Our tailored 3,4, and 5 x 3.5-hour sessions are suited for those who identify as having particular issues with driving, such as driving anxiety, issues on particular roads, or who have not driven for a long time. These longer courses are booked mainly by private individuals, but they are also open to our business clients.
Longer-duration courses are ideal for those facing particular (often very specific) issues, as it can take time to strengthen your skills and confidence levels. The time in between each session will also be valuable as it allows you to reflect, absorb and practise what has been covered.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Crawley
Crawley is a busy town lying halfway between London and the coast at Brighton. It is served by the M23, which joins the A23 and the A264 at junction 11, the Brighton Road interchange. Brighton Road joins Crawley Avenue, which then circles the town centre to join the A2011, linking back to the M23 at junction 10.
For a relatively small town, the accident statistics for Crawley are very high, with the worst affected areas being the dual carriageway of Crawley Avenue between Ifield Roundabout linking Ifield Avenue and the Tushmore Gyratory Roundabout linking the A23 to the London Road. This carriageway section is very hazardous, with countless accidents occurring on the slip roads and roundabouts. Higher speeds and poor lane exiting are a recipe for disaster on busy dual carriageways, especially during rush hour traffic. Many of the collisions found here have been severe, and some have sadly involved fatalities. The Hazelwick Roundabout linking Gatwick Road and Hazelwick Avenue are troublesome, with most collisions occurring when joining from the slip roads on both sides.
Much of the retail centre of Crawley is pedestrianised, but the streets leading into the town are littered with collision sites, which are particularly hazardous during rush hour traffic. The Horsham Road, A2220, between Springfield Road and Ifield Road, has a high collision rate, mainly occurring near junctions opening on the road. The A2220 carries on along the Ifield Road, and accidents are quite high along this road as well, especially near the small retail section before the road splits into a dual carriageway leading to the roundabout that links Pegler Way, the A2219 to West Green Drive. There have been some severe accidents noted on this roundabout, with poor lane exiting being a possibility as to why these have occurred. It is essential to know in advance what lane you should be in for your exit on these large urban intersections, as last-minute decisions can be disastrous. Another area to be aware of is the one-way elbow junction at the meeting of High Street and Peglar Way; even though there is a traffic light system in place, numerous accidents are noted in this area, and care should be taken when using this route. The Boulevard running north of the town centre is another road with high crash rates. These mainly occur near the entrances to the retail stores on either side of the road.
This is only a very slight outline of collision sites in Crawley. If you have any specific roads you travel on in the area and you’re keen to discover what parts are at higher risk in terms of collisions, please contact us. We offer a free-of-charge service to anyone interested.
