Location Overview – Nottingham is a city in Nottinghamshire, in the East Midlands. It is located 110 miles northwest of London, 33 miles southeast of Sheffield and 45 miles northeast to Birmingham. Nottingham has famous links to the legend of Robin Hood and the lace-making, bicycle, and tobacco industries. Nottingham is the largest city in the East Midlands and the second-largest in the Midlands. Nottingham is a significant sports centre and, in 2015, was named ‘Home of English Sport’. During the Industrial Revolution, much of Nottingham’s fortune was founded on the textile industry and became an internationally important centre of lace manufacturing.
Nottingham’s textile sector declined in the decades following World War II, and only a few textile manufacturers now remain in Nottingham. However, several former old industrial factories in the Lace Market have been restored and put to new use. Our advanced driver training is very popular across Nottingham for both private and company drivers.

Whether you are a private client or a business customer, we can build a course based on your specific needs and requirements anywhere in the UK.
Our courses do vary in structure, although we have several courses based on duration:
3.5hr session
7hr session (which can be split between two drivers if needed)
2 x 3.5hr sessions
3 x 3.5hr sessions – We also have longer courses if needed.
The 7hr session, as mentioned above, can be split between two drivers, which is time and cost-efficient. One driver will be trained in the morning, usually 9:00 to 12:30, and then the second driver in the afternoon, usually 13:00 to 16:30. We can be very flexible with start times and can start earlier than 9:00 if needed. Each driver has 3.5hr on-road training.
Longer Duration Courses:
Our bespoke 3,4 and 5 x 3.5hr sessions are suited to those with specific driving issues. These issues include driving anxiety, motorway confidence, a fear of driving in new areas, post-RTC confidence or those that have not driven in a long time.
The longer courses are mostly booked by private individuals, although they are open to our business customers too. Those that commit to these longer-duration courses see change happen over the weeks as they build confidence and address the specific issues they may be facing.

Road Safety Risks and Information – Nottingham
Nottingham is situated in the centre of the UK and is a busy city served by the M1 to the west and several fast A-road routes such as the A52, the A60, and the A610. These routes have very high collision statistics, and there are hot spots that drivers should be aware of across the city, especially if they are new to the area.
Junction 25 of the M1, a crucial link from Derby and Stoke on Trent, is a large intersection with a history of collisions. Navigating such intersections requires knowledge of your own directions and exits and a keen awareness of other drivers. Some may be struggling, and if they appear hesitant, it’s your responsibility to hold back and give them room. This simple act can prevent needless accidents, a common occurrence at busy intersections. The slip roads, too, demand your attention. Maintaining the correct speed is vital. If you’re too slow when joining the motorway, you force other drivers to change lanes at speed, a dangerous situation. Similarly, if you’re leaving a motorway with excessive speed, it can impact the drivers on the roundabouts. It takes skill and confidence to navigate these busy motorways and the large urban intersections linking them. Junction 26, connecting the A610 from the A6 at Matlock, at the Nuthall interchange, has a very high accident rate, some of which have been severe and life-changing in recent years. Many of these collisions are due to poor lane positioning for exiting, causing confusion among other drivers. The A610 leave this intersection and travels to the next roundabout, where it joins Nottingham Road, the B600 and the A6002, another junction with an extremely high accident rate. Speed and poor lane positioning are often the culprits. Despite the traffic light system on the roundabout, it remains a hazardous spot, especially during rush hours, as it carries a significant amount of commuter traffic to Nottingham city centre.
The Bingham Interchange, a route into the city centre linking the A46 to the A52 to the east of Nottingham, is a hazardous route. Almost every junction along this route has crash statistics, particularly the Gamston Roundabout and the traffic lights at Meadow Lane. The A6008, Upper Parliament Street, which runs across Nottingham City Centre, has one of the highest rates of accidents in the area. This is partly due to the road being shared with pedestrians and cyclists, making inner city driving significantly more dangerous than motorway driving. It’s vital to exercise caution and be aware of these potential hazards when driving in this area. Not following safety guidelines can lead to severe collisions.
As a driver in the Nottingham area, understanding the roads that pose a higher risk of collisions is crucial. Our free-of-charge service is here to provide this vital information to anyone interested. Being aware of these high-risk areas allows you to plan your routes more effectively and it could significantly reduce your chances of being involved in an accident.
